
A serious incident of financial fraud has occurred at the Lilapur branch of the State Bank of India. Many account holders have complained that money was taken from their accounts and given to a contractor. So far, 35 people have reported the issue to the police and the bank. On Wednesday, there was a protest outside the bank, and the branch manager has been suspended.
The branch manager, Jaynath Saroj, is accused of taking money from the fixed deposit and savings accounts of the account holders and transferring it to a contractor in Gonda. The contractor then withdrew the money and distributed it through the customer service center.
When the account holders found out about this, they gathered outside the bank and demanded that the branch manager be punished and their money be returned. The police came to the scene to calm the situation.
One account holder, Rohit Shukla, had Rs 45.21 lakh taken from the account of his petrol pump, and another person’s family is missing Rs 1.30 crore from their account. After the incident came to light, Jaynath Saroj was suspended, and a new manager was assigned.
The police are investigating the matter, but they have found that the complaint given by the bank manager does not have enough details. They have asked for a second complaint. It seems that a total of Rs 3 crore may have been involved in this fraudulent activity.
The branch manager has been suspended, and a new manager has been appointed while the investigation continues. A formal complaint has been filed with the police to initiate legal proceedings.

Now a days big PSB’s like SBI, PNB names appearing in headlines for negative news for frauds where staff is involving Banks compliance and fraud alert becomes inactive. It is alarming signs strict vigilance should put in place.
I heard Bank of Baroda staff had same problem, I withdrew fds prematurely, then ICICi and now SBI. Now where we have to go.
We need to watch our account on day today basis, even then we are not sure. Really pathetic position.
Please activate your internet banking facility and use it properly. Don’t share any credentials to anyone. Monitor your accounts(savings, fd, Current and others) without visiting branch. If you found any suspicious transaction in your account report it to your branch.

I myself being a retired employee of sbi was defrauded by Rs2.00 lacs on 17 10 2022.1Lac from my savings bank pension account & another 1 lac from my CCAC by manipulating the registered mobile no in my CCAc.I registered FIR with Kanpur Railway station Police station Cyber cell.Till date nothing tangible has been done by police.Only thing they say is that my money has reached Gurgaon & Banglore.Bank has no responsibility whatsoever.I feel what I see daily from Google that now bank staff is complicit with most of internet & credit card frauds.public money is not safe in banks.I have surrendered my CC & discontinued my internet facility in my Pension savings bank pension account

Bank aur police abhi bhi un logo ko bchane me juti h……. Aap sbhi logo se nivedn h bank manager pr bhi bhrosa na kre aur apne paise ko ek bank me bilkul na rkhe…. Aur is ldaai me hmara saath de……. Yha kreeb 70 logo ka account khali h……..
Previously Unions were more vigilant and used to question. Now after so called reforms are introduced, common people. Are suffering more with such incidents. Still PSBs are more safe and people get money back unlike hundreds of private Banks have left people in lurk after entire banks filed IP. In a nutshell, people along with Unions should be watchful to protect people’s money.
It’s really a disturbing news for customers of any Bank. Internal checks and controls to be strengthened to avoid these type of incidence which are common now in all Banks. As rightly pointed out, customers should be always vigil and ensure no unauthorised transaction happened in the account. I am sure SBI will refund the money to the eligible customers who have lost money in this case.
Most Indians(not all) are Genetically corrupt. They are very often tempted to do corruption or they have hand
in gloves. Loyalty towards the organization has gone due to quick movement/ promotion of officials, moral of staff has gone down. Either they do unethical services like forcefully selling sbi life sbi Gen. Sbi card products on availing loan by any customer to earn commission or (some staffs) defraud the customer’s account. Now internal auditors of SBI are also corrupt, they are taking bribe in the shape of cash jewellery items from each and every branch they Inspect. I&A officials are not performing their duty delegently, so corrupt bent of mind gets courage to defraud the customer. Lobbying is working to impose of penalty, whether the culprit was doing cross selling business and giving hefty commission to AGM DGM GM CGM then minimal penalty will be awarded to the officials. If I am wrong please correct me.
Everyone talking about their own happenings but no one is talking about corruption involved in almost all the sectors. we thought after 2014 corruption will be less but it got doubled in the last decade..thanks to the present government.
