This gold was deposited in the bank by customers who had taken gold loans. The Gold was pledged in the bank as security for gold loan.
Now police have solved this bank robbery case in Barhi, Hazaribagh. The Superintendent of Police (SP) said that the criminals collected information from social media. They learned that gold loans were available at the Bank of Maharashtra and then targeted this branch.

The police found that over the last nine years, they have looted around 96 kilograms of gold in different states. Many members of the gang have already been in jail before.

So far, the police have arrested three criminals. Their names are Pankaj Singh alias Raunak Singh from Gorakhpur, Mohd. Afzal from Nawada, and Saurabh Yadav alias Sonu Yadav from Mau.

The police are still searching for other members of the gang. Teams from different states and Special Task Forces (STF) worked together in this operation.
During the investigation, the police got information about a suspicious Scorpio vehicle. This led them to Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. With the help of the STF, the police surrounded the Sarnath area and arrested the three criminals.
The police recovered ₹20 lakh in cash, more than 900 grams of gold, six mobile phones, the Scorpio vehicle, and two motorcycles used in the crime.
The investigation also showed that the criminals first planned the robbery on April 17. But due to strict police checking, they delayed the plan. Later, they carried out the robbery on April 24 after careful planning.
The gang had been visiting Barhi for the last four months to study the area and plan the robbery.
This shows that Banks should enhance the security of the branches.
