The Punjab government has recently purchased 167 flats in Purab Premium Apartments, located in Sector-88, Mohali. These flats will be allocated to various administrative officers, including IAS, IPS, PPS, and other government officials stationed in Mohali. The flats are categorized into three types, and the allotment will be based on the officers’ ranks. The officers will be responsible for paying the house rent.
The Punjab government has already made an initial payment of Rs 38,85,42,000 to the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA), which includes a 2% cancer cess and a 2% contribution to the Purab Premium Apartment Corpus Fund. This payment is part of the total cost of Rs 1,00,48,50,000 for the flats. The remaining balance can either be paid in a lump sum within 60 days from the issue of the allotment letter, or in eight half-yearly installments, with an interest rate of 9.5% per annum.
Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain confirmed that the allotment of the 167 flats (47 Type-I, 60 Type-II, and 60 Type-III) has been completed. The flats in Type-II and Type-III categories have already been taken into possession and are ready for allocation. The allotment process follows the provisions of the Punjab Regional & Town Planning & Development Act, 1995, along with its related rules, regulations, and amendments.
On Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain visited the Purab Premium Apartments to inspect the flats purchased for government officials and employees. She provided an update on the progress, stating that the flats would soon be handed over to the state government and district administration. She emphasized that this was a long-awaited initiative to meet the housing needs of Mohali’s government officials and employees.
The flats were procured from GMADA, and Jain, along with a team of administrative and PWD officials, visited the apartments to check their condition. The Public Works Department (PWD) team, including officials from the Civil, Electrical, and Water Supply and Sanitation wings, ensured that the flats met all necessary requirements.
Deputy Commissioner Jain also mentioned that district officials and employees had long requested government housing, and this initiative would fulfill their needs. She stated that applications from district officials would be considered according to the state’s house allotment norms. Some of the flats will also be allocated by the Punjab Government’s Department of General Administration to state officers.
