Punjab National Bank employees held hostage in Loan Recovery, FIR filed against Loan Borrower
Punjab National Bank (PNB) employees, including the manager, faced a tense hostage situation in Shamgarh village near Delhi while attempting to recover a loan from a struggling factory owner.
Sudhir Verma, manager of PNB’s Tarawadi Anaj Mandi branch, led his team to the home of loan defaulter Ashok Kumar. Ashok’s family, reportedly angered by the visit, allegedly held the entire PNB team, including Verma, hostage.
Authorities were alerted, and both dial 112 and Tarawadi police rushed to the scene. Ashok’s family also reached the police station to lodge a counter-complaint against PNB. Both sides filed official complaints, and an investigation is currently underway.
Verma’s complaint details Ashok’s Rs 5 lakh loan taken a year and a half ago for his water tank factory, followed by loan delinquency and subsequent recovery attempts. Despite notices and multiple visits, Ashok reportedly failed to comply with loan repayments.
Verma claims PNB’s team, under a “Gandhigiri campaign” for loan resolution, visited Ashok’s house on Saturday. The manager asserts that Ashok and his family then took the entire team hostage.
