In Malihabad, Lucknow, a resident named Harivansh Tripathi has been subjected to unfair treatment by Axis Bank. Despite paying off his entire loan, he received a notice from the bank demanding additional money. Frustrated with this situation, Tripathi decided to take his complaint to the Janata Darbar and seek justice from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The Chief Minister has responded by ordering an investigation into the matter.

Loan and Installment Payments

Harivansh Tripathi took a loan of 25 lakh 52 thousand 500 from the Gomtinagar branch of Axis Bank in 2018 to purchase a truck. He diligently made 36 installments of Rs 85,171 as per the bank’s requirements. Tripathi maintained a good payment record and successfully paid off 26 installments. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Tripathi faced some difficulties and approached the bank for assistance. The bank manager acknowledged his timely installment payments and provided him with a grace period of 6 months.

Unfair Demands by the Bank

However, when Tripathi returned to the bank after the grace period, instead of the remaining 10 installments, the manager demanded that he deposit 7 installments of Rs 1,42,221 each. Tripathi, facing financial difficulties, was unable to comply with such large installment amounts. Despite his efforts to reason with the bank, the employees did not listen to him. Frustrated by the bank’s arbitrary actions, Harivansh Tripathi approached the High Court for justice. The court ruled in his favor and ordered him to deposit the entire loan amount, along with interest, in 15 installments.

Unresolved Issues with the Bank

After complying with the court’s order and paying Rs 10 lakh 39 thousand 254, Tripathi approached the bank to obtain a no-dues certificate. However, instead of providing the certificate, the bank issued a notice demanding an additional Rs 1,46,334. Tripathi raised his concerns with senior bank officials but did not receive any relief.

Appeal to the Chief Minister

In a final attempt to seek justice, Harivansh Tripathi attended the Janata Darbar on Saturday and appealed to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for assistance. The Chief Minister has taken note of the situation and ordered an investigation to resolve the matter.

Harivansh Tripathi has expressed his determination to continue fighting for justice and has even mentioned the possibility of going on a hunger strike if necessary. The Chief Minister’s intervention and the ongoing investigation provide hope for a fair resolution to this case.
