A field officer working for IndusInd Bank in Agra has been accused of embezzling Rs 3.54 lakh, which he collected from 20 women borrowers as repayment for loans. The money was not deposited into the bank, leading to a police investigation.

Rajesh Singh, the assistant manager of IndusInd Bank’s Runakta branch, reported the incident to the police. According to Singh, Bharat Financial Inclusion Limited, a subsidiary of IndusInd Bank, offers loans to women in groups. The company had appointed Mukund Singh, a resident of Naurangpur village in Kagaraul police station area, as the field officer responsible for collecting loan repayments.

Mukund Singh collected Rs 3.54 lakh in total from the 20 women but failed to deposit the recovery amount into the bank. When the repayments were not reflected in the bank’s records, other bank employees reached out to the women. It was then discovered that Singh had embezzled the money.

The police have registered a case based on the complaint from the assistant manager, and an investigation is underway. The police station in-charge assured that appropriate action would be taken following the investigation.
