Punjab National Bank (PNB) will establish a Quantum Finance Innovation Hub at the Amaravati Quantum Computing Centre in collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh Quantum Mission.
An MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and PNB Managing Director and CEO Ashok Chandra at the Secretariat on Thursday.
With this partnership, PNB has become the first bank in India to join hands with a State government for setting up a dedicated Quantum Finance Innovation Hub focused on the banking sector.
What is the purpose of this hub?
The proposed hub would work towards developing advanced technological solutions for the financial sector, with a focus on strengthening cybersecurity, improving fraud detection mechanisms and creating secure digital banking ecosystems using quantum technologies.
The facility would serve as a collaborative platform bringing together banks, industries, academic institutions, startups, research organisations and government agencies to promote innovation in emerging technologies. Besides quantum computing, the hub would encourage research and development in Artificial Intelligence and other advanced technology areas, while contributing to skill development in these fields.
Mr. Naidu said the initiative aligned with the State government’s vision of positioning Amaravati as a global centre for quantum technology and deep-tech innovation. He described the establishment of the PNB Quantum AI Finance Innovation Hub as a significant step towards building the Amaravati Quantum Valley.
Mr. Ashok Chandra said the innovation hub in Amaravati would focus on making digital banking services more secure, efficient and customer-friendly through the adoption of advanced technologies.
