Indian Origin Shrina Kurani Appointed as Deputy Director of California Govt Owned Bank

The California Infrastructure and Economic Development Bank (IBank) has announced that Shrina Kurani will take on the role of Deputy Director of Venture Capital. In this important position, Kurani will lead efforts to expand IBank’s investments in venture capital, focusing on startups and innovative businesses that contribute to California’s economic growth.


Bringing Experience in Venture Capital and Innovation
Kurani is no stranger to venture capital and business development. She has extensive experience working with startups, sustainable businesses, and mission-driven investments. Since 2023, she has served as a Venture Specialist at IBank, where she helped create funding opportunities for growing industries and emerging businesses.
Before that, Kurani was a Managing Partner at SNØCAP, an early-stage investment firm, and Vice President at Republic, where she focused on making startup investing more accessible to everyday people. She has also worked at Better Ventures, where she supported investments aimed at creating a positive social and environmental impact.

A Vision for Supporting California’s Entrepreneurs
Scott Wu, IBank’s Executive Director, praised Kurani’s appointment, highlighting her deep knowledge of venture capital and her drive to support innovation. “Shrina’s experience and strategic thinking will help us strengthen California’s position as a leader in entrepreneurship and sustainable economic development,” Wu said.

Educational Background and Leadership Skills
Kurani’s educational background includes a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies and Sustainability Science from Lund University and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Riverside. Her diverse academic training, combined with her hands-on experience in venture capital, equips her well for her new responsibilities at IBank.
