High Court orders regularization of 456 Daily Wage employees of Telangana Grameena Bank

In an important decision, the Telangana High Court has ordered Telangana Grameena Bank to provide permanent jobs to 456 workers who have been working on daily wages for nearly 20 years. These workers include sweepers, messengers, and other support staff.
Workers’ Struggle for Job Security
This order came after the Telangana Grameena Bank Temporary Employees Association, along with the affected workers, filed a petition in court. They challenged the bank’s earlier decision in which it had refused to make them permanent employees.
The workers told the court that the bank had not held any official recruitment for these positions in the past 20 years. Instead, it continued to employ them on a daily wage basis, paying them much less than regular staff. They also pointed out that they were not getting any job benefits or security, even after working for so long.
What the Court Said
Justice Pulla Karthik, who heard the case, found merit in the workers’ arguments. He ordered the bank to cancel its earlier rejection and to review the matter again with a fresh approach. The bank was told to follow clear guidelines while starting the regularisation process.
The judge said the bank must assess how well the workers have performed over the years and create a proper plan to regularize their jobs. The court also made some important points to make the process fair:
- The workers should be allowed to apply for the regular post of office attendant without needing a recommendation from the Employment Exchange.
- The bank should consider the many years of service the workers have already given.
- The age and educational qualifications of the workers should be looked at based on earlier court orders from 2017.
- Only those workers who are still working will be considered. Those who have already left the job won’t be included in this process.
Deadline Set by Court
The High Court has given the bank six months to complete this regularisation process. This decision brings new hope to hundreds of long-time workers who have been waiting for job security and fair pay for two decades.
Very good decision
