Ghaziabad, near Delhi, might get a new name soon. Some people, especially those from Hindu groups, want to change it. The new options are Gajnagar and Harnandi Nagar. A member of the BJP party suggested this, and it will be discussed in a meeting.
The BJP party has a lot of members in the group that will make the decision, so it’s likely to happen. People have been asking for a new name for Ghaziabad for a while. This is the first time they are talking about it in an important meeting, the mayor said.
Sanjay Singh, who is part of the BJP, thinks Ghaziabad is important in history. He says it should have a name that fits its history. Another person, Mahant Narayan Giri, who leads efforts to change the name, says Ghaziabad used to be part of a place called Hastinapur, which is mentioned in Hindu stories.
