A young Indian Police Service (IPS) officer has been accused of raping a woman doctor in Nagpur after allegedly promising to marry her.
The woman, who is 28 years old, went to Imamwada Police Station in Nagpur on Friday, April 11, to file a complaint. According to the police, she said the incident happened after the IPS officer made false promises of marriage.
The woman told the police that she met the 30-year-old man through Instagram in November 2022. At that time, the man was preparing for the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) exams, and she was studying for her MBBS degree.
Their chats on social media turned into regular phone conversations, and over time they became close friends. According to the woman, the man promised to marry her, and based on that promise, they got into a physical relationship.
Later, after the man was selected for the IPS, he started distancing himself from her. He stopped communicating and eventually refused to marry her. When the woman tried contacting his family, they also ignored her, which left her feeling hurt and helpless.
Because of this, she decided to approach the police and filed a formal complaint. The police have registered a case of rape against the IPS officer, and an investigation is now in progress.
