The Delhi High Court has ordered a former probationary employee of ICICI Bank, Dharmendra Gupta, to stop making or sharing any negative or defamatory comments, videos, or posts about the bank or its employees.
The order was given by Justice Amit Bansal on August 14 after ICICI Bank and its representative Kapil Dev Singh filed a case against Gupta. The bank said Gupta joined as a Relationship Manager on May 11, 2022, but his job was terminated on June 6, 2023, during his probation. After this, he allegedly posted over 100 videos on social media with abusive and insulting remarks about the bank.
A group of ICICI Bank employees, including Dharmendra Gupta, are protesting against the bank, claiming that they were terminated from their jobs without any valid reason.
The bank also claimed that during a conciliation meeting under the Industrial Disputes Act on May 15, 2025, Gupta used abusive language for the bank’s staff, and later posted those remarks online. Recordings of these meetings were given to the Court as evidence.
The Court noted that Gupta was informed about the case but did not appear. Since ICICI Bank is a well-known financial institution and such posts could harm its reputation, the judge said there was a strong reason to give temporary protection to the bank.
Gupta has been ordered not to post, share, or circulate any abusive or negative content about the bank until the next hearing. He is also not allowed to share any recordings of court or other legal proceedings involving the bank.
The matter will go before the Joint Registrar on October 9, 2025, to complete the service and pleadings. The next hearing is on January 15, 2026.
