Constant Attendant Allowance (CAA) Increased for Soldiers, Check new Amount and order copy

The Ministry of Defence, through the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, has announced an increase in the Constant Attendant Allowance (CAA) for eligible military personnel. This allowance is given to disabled soldiers who require constant care from an attendant.
Background and Previous Allowance Amount
As per the earlier order dated 4 September 2017, based on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission (7th CPC), the Constant Attendant Allowance was fixed at a uniform rate of ₹6,750 per month. This amount was applicable from 1 July 2017 and was the same for all eligible personnel, regardless of their rank.
Reason for the Increase
In March 2024, the Department of Expenditure increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) from 46% to 50% of the basic pay. Following this change, the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare directed all ministries to raise fixed allowances like CAA by 25%.
New Allowance Rate from January 2024
Based on the government’s decision and the new DA rate, the Constant Attendant Allowance has been increased by 25%, raising the amount from ₹6,750 to ₹8,438 per month. This new rate is effective from 1 January 2024.
Official Approval and Implementation
The increase in CAA has been approved by the Finance Division of the Ministry of Defence, as per their official note dated 18 March 2025. The updated allowance is now in effect. A Hindi version of this order will also be released.
Who Is Eligible
This enhanced allowance is for Commissioned Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs), and Other Ranks who retired or died in service on or after 1 January 2016 and who are eligible for disability-related pension benefits under the Casualty Pensionary Awards. It is specifically intended for those who need full-time help due to serious injuries or disabilities sustained in service.
