Personal Approach to Balance
In an interview with the news agency IANS, Mr. Adani stated, “Your work-life balance should not be imposed on me, and my work-life balance shouldn’t be imposed on you.” He explained that different people find balance in different ways. For example, some may spend four hours with their family and find happiness in it, while others might spend eight hours working and feel fulfilled. However, he cautioned, “If you spend too much time working, your wife might leave you.”
Happiness for Self and Loved Ones
Mr. Adani further elaborated that the essence of work-life balance lies in the happiness of oneself and one’s loved ones. He said, “Your work-life is balanced when you do things which you like doing.” For him and his family, the focus is either on work or family, without trying to juggle both extensively. “We don’t have a world out of this,” he added.
Setting an Example for the Next Generation
Adani mentioned that their children observe and learn from their approach to balance. “Our children also notice that only and take note of it,” he said. He believes that by understanding and accepting the limits of one’s time and energy, life becomes simpler and more manageable. “No one has come here permanently. When one understands this, life becomes simple,” Mr. Adani concluded.
Emphasizing Individual Preferences
Mr. Adani’s remarks highlight the importance of individual preferences in achieving work-life balance. He advocates for a personalized approach where each person determines what balance means for them, based on their unique circumstances and what brings them joy.
Conclusion
Gautam Adani’s insights provide a thoughtful perspective on work-life balance, stressing the significance of personal happiness and the well-being of loved ones. His views encourage individuals to find their own path to balance, tailored to their specific needs and lifestyles.
