A tragedy unfolded in Kolkata as a 32-year-old homemaker, Reshmi Verma, took her own life, leaving behind two children. The wife of a manager in a nationalized bank was discovered hanging from the ceiling fan in her apartment. Personal issues had deeply troubled her, a matter she had confided in her parents.

Authorities are examining her call records, with suspicions arising about a possible argument with her husband. Experts emphasize the importance of refraining from making assumptions about specific causes in the absence of a suicide note.

Primary investigations show that the woman was upset over some personal issues. It was in this regard that her husband had called up her parents in Hazaribagh about two days ago. “Her parents too spoke to her on Wednesday. The decision taken by the victim might have had something to do with her conversations in the past two days,” said a senior officer at Lalbazar.

“It seems that Reshmi had herself ensured that her children went off to sleep at night. She then went to a different room in order to execute her decision. On Thursday morning, her husband saw her hanging inside the flat. We received information from other residents of the building and rushed to the spot,” said a senior officer.

Cops stated that they were going through the victim’s call details and speaking to her family. “We cannot rule out the fact that she had an argument with someone, who can be her husband, too, on Wednesday night. We have a couple of pieces of evidences in this regard,” claimed a source.
