The Bank of Baroda (BoB), a public sector lender, has issued a notice to Bollywood actor Sunny Deol due to non-payment of dues amounting to nearly Rs 56 crore for his villa in Mumbai’s Juhu. The bank plans to e-auction the villa on September 25 as a result. Sunny Deol, also known as Ajay Singh Deol, is the borrower and guarantor of the loan and has reportedly not met the payment deadline.

The loan, taken in 2016 for film financing, turned into a non-performing asset (NPA) in December 2022, as per an anonymous source. This action is consistent with banking rules, which necessitate setting aside funds to cover potential losses from non-repaid loans. In light of Deol’s recent movie success with “Gadar 2,” which has grossed over Rs 300 crore at the domestic box office, the notice for auction was published on August 20.

Sunny Deol’s villa, named Sunny Villa, situated on Gandhigram Road in Juhu, will be auctioned, along with the surrounding land, for the purpose of recovering dues. The auction has a reserve price of Rs 51.43 crore and an Earnest Money Deposit of around Rs 5.14 crore. Sunny Deol’s representative expressed optimism about resolving the matter and requested no further speculation.
