An 18-year-old woman from Mahesra in Uttar Pradesh has made a shocking allegation against her mother, accusing her of selling her into a marriage with a man from Haryana for ₹4 lakh. The woman also claims that her husband subjected her to assault and forced her into illicit activities.
According to Superintendent of Police (North) Manoj Awasthi, the woman approached the police on Wednesday and stated that she was a resident of Mahesra under Chiluatal Police Station jurisdiction. She claimed that her mother had sold her to a man from Haryana and forced her to marry him.
The woman further alleged that her mother had received ₹4 lakh from the man and arranged a marriage ceremony at their home on November 23rd.
While the police are investigating the allegations, the woman’s mother and other family members have denied the claims. Chiluatal Police Station SHO Sanjay Mishra stated that they are currently looking into all aspects of the case, including the involvement of the woman’s sisters, who are also married in Haryana.
This incident highlights the disturbing reality of human trafficking in India and the need for stricter laws and enforcement to protect vulnerable individuals.
