Chaitma, Chhattisgarh: The police arrested the cashier for cheating a female customer of Rs 35,000 when she came to deposit money in Union Bank. It is alleged that after giving acknowledgment of the deposit slip, the amount was not deposited in the woman’s account.
According to Inspector Abhinavkant Singh, in-charge of Pali police station, Sushila Bai Kanwar, a woman resident of Bhodakchar Patpara of Chaitma Chowki area, has an account in the Chaitma branch of Union Bank.
About a year ago, on November 30, the woman reached the said branch and gave cash deposit slip to cashier Panchu Ram Kurre (49) to deposit Rs 35,000 in her account.
Cashier Kurre took the amount and gave acknowledgment on the deposit slip. After three months, when the woman went to the bank to withdraw money from her account, she was informed that there was no money in her account.
When entry was made in the passbook, Rs 35,000 was found not to be deposited in it. When the woman asked the cashier about the above, he started misleading her by giving vague answers.
The woman had complained about the matter to the SP office. SP Jitendra Shukla ordered immediate investigation into the matter and action was taken, on the basis of which a case was registered.
Cashier Kurre was absconding after not coming to the bank for 5 months. With the help of cyber cell, he was traced and arrested on Saturday. On being produced before the court he was sent to jail.
