One more bribery case has been reported in Bank. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the branch head of UCO Bank’s Kotwali Road branch in Mathura for taking a bribe of ₹4 lakh in loan.
A businessman had filed a complaint with CBI. Murari Lal, owner of Radhakrishna Flour Mill, resident of Mandi Chowk of Highway police station area, had applied for a loan of Rs 1 crore in UCO Bank located on Kotwali Road.
He said that his firm had taken a cash credit loan of ₹1 crore from UCO Bank, but only ₹90 lakh was disbursed by the branch. The remaining ₹10 lakh was withheld by the branch head, Garima Singh. He said that she demanded Rs.4 Lakh Bribe for disbursing the whole loan amount.
Acting on this complaint, the CBI set up a trap. The businessman requested Garima Singh to take Bribe in two installments of Rs.2 Lakh. She agreed to this request. Murarilal’s son Sonu handed over the first installment of Rs 2 lakh to the senior manager and his personal assistant Arif Mohammad at the bank branch on Monday afternoon. The officer was caught red-handed by CBI while taking ₹2 lakh as the first instalment of the bribe. The CBI has arrested both of them.
