The CBI Court in Lucknow has convicted and sentenced Ram Swaroop Mishra, Branch Manager of Bank of Baroda, Baskhari Branch, Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, to five years imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 50,000/- in a bribery case.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered the case on 07.03.2017 based on a complaint alleging that the complainant had been sanctioned a loan of Rs. 20,25,000/- under the “Kamdhenu Yojana” from the Bank of Baroda, Baskhari Branch, Ambedkar Nagar, UP. Part of the loan amount was credited to the complainant’s account; however, the account was subsequently put on hold.
When the complainant contacted the accused, Ram Swaroop Mishra, to ascertain the reason for the hold, the Branch Manager demanded a bribe of Rs. 30,000/-. After negotiation, the accused agreed to accept a bribe of Rs. 25,000/- through a signed blank cheque. The accused was caught red-handed while accepting the cheque, which was recovered from him.
Following the investigation, a chargesheet was filed on 31.03.2017. After the trial, the Hon’ble Court convicted and sentenced the accused on 12th November, 2025.
