AIBEA has strongly condemned this incident and demanded strict action against the Deputy Regional Head who insulted the female officers.

The Union Bank Officers’ Association (Gujarat State) has sent a complaint to the Regional Head of Union Bank, Ahmedabad, accusing Rajesh Kumar Mishra, Deputy Regional Head (Business Development), Ahmedabad, of mistreating bank officers, including two female employees.

What Happened?

On 12 February 2025, three Relationship Managers (RMs) were suddenly called for a meeting at 9:30 AM at the Regional Office, Ahmedabad. This meeting was not planned or informed in advance. The officers were put under stress and humiliated in front of other staff members.

The complaint states that two female officers were forced to stand outside the Regional Head’s cabin, where Mishra insulted them in front of everyone. He even told the staff to clap while the officers were being humiliated. When no one clapped, he forced the victims to clap for themselves, making them feel more embarrassed. Both female officers started crying due to the public humiliation.

Later, when a male RM arrived, he was also insulted and made to stand in front of the cabin.

This is Not the First Time

The Union Bank Officers’ Association says that this is not an isolated incident. Mishra has allegedly mistreated officers many times before, often using performance reviews as an excuse to insult employees. On the same day, during another meeting, two Deputy Branch Managers were also publicly humiliated and made to stand in front of everyone.

The association claims that Mishra enjoys making employees feel small and unworthy of their jobs.

Violation of Bank Rules

The association says that Mishra’s actions violate Para 2.1.2 of the Union Bank Code of Ethics, which requires a respectful and inclusive workplace. His behavior is also against Indian labor laws, which protect employees from workplace harassment.

Action Demanded

The Union Bank Officers’ Association is demanding strict action against Mishra under Para 4.1 of the Code of Ethics, which deals with rule violators.

They have also urged the bank to create a safe and respectful workplace where officers do not have to face such humiliation. The association has warned that they will not tolerate the mistreatment of bank employees anymore.

So far, the bank’s management has not responded to the complaint. However, this issue has caused a lot of anger among bank employees, and many are demanding that the bank take strong action to prevent such incidents in the future.
