
Shri D. Surendran has been appointed as new Executive Director (ED) in Punjab National Bank (PNB). He is currently working as Chief General Manager in Canara Bank.
In 2024, FSIB had recommended following CGMs for the post of ED – Beena Vaheed (Union Bank of India), Rajeeva (Punjab National Bank), S K Majumdar (Canara Bank), D Surendran (Canara Bank) and Amit Kumar Srivastava (Punjab National Bank).
Who is Shri D. Surendran – the new ED of PNB?
Shri D. Surendran holds a Postgraduate degree in Agriculture from Annamalai University and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers. He has also completed the Leadership Development Programme for Senior Executives conducted by the Banks Board Bureau at the Indian Institute of Management, Bengaluru.
He began his banking career in 1990 as an Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) at Canara Bank and has dedicated 34 years to the institution, serving in various capacities across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, New Delhi, and Andhra Pradesh. Throughout his tenure, he has led Very Large and Exceptionally Large Branches, served as General Manager at Karnataka Gramin Bank, and headed Canara Bank’s Circle Office in Madurai.
As Chief General Manager, he led the Human Resources Wing at the Head Office, where he played a key role in launching Project Aarohan – HR Transformation. His extensive expertise spans Branch Banking, Priority Credit, MSME, Retail Credit, Recovery, and Human Resources. Additionally, he was nominated to the Board of Canara HSBC Life Insurance Company Ltd.
