SBI Assistant Manager in MP caught taking Bribe

One more incident of bribery has been reported in State Bank of India. On Thursday, the team of Lokayukta Indore caught Assistant Manager of Khawasa branch of State Bank of India Rishabh Shukla and bank housekeeper Hiralal Lohar in a bribery case in Thandla area of Jhabua district.

A businessman Pankesh Singh, resident of village Narsinghpada, had applied for a loan of Rs 4 lakh from the bank. It is alleged that both of them demanded a bribe of Rs 40 thousand in exchange for loan approval.

He filed complaint with Indore Lokayukta. Investigation started on the complaint and the trap team arrested housekeeper Hiralal Lohar red handed while taking the first installment of Rs 10 thousand.

The victim had applied online for a loan of four lakh rupees on 26 June 2025. The application was received in the branch of Khawasa on 27 June 2025. The application was handed over to the branch’s assistant manager Rishabh Shukla for processing. After this, Rishabh Shukla and housekeeper Hiralal Lohar contacted the applicant and demanded a bribe of 40 thousand rupees to accept the loan.

The shopkeeper complained about the bribery to the Lokayukta Indore unit. On finding the complaint to be genuine, the Lokayukta team took action on Thursday. Hiralal Lohar took the first installment of 10 thousand rupees from the applicant on the instructions of Assistant Manager Rishabh Shukla.

A case has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 and BNS 61(2) and further action has been initiated.

A few days ago, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had arrested the female branch head of UCO Bank’s Kotwali Road branch in Mathura for taking a bribe of ₹4 lakh in loan.
