On December 27, Mumbai Police announced the arrest of an individual from Gujarat who had sent a threatening email to blow up the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) office. The Mumbai Crime Branch apprehended the accused in the Vadodara district, and an ongoing interrogation aims to determine the motive behind the threatening email.

As of the preliminary reports, the identity of the arrested person has not been disclosed. The threatening email, sent on December 26, claimed the placement of bombs at 11 locations in Mumbai, including the RBI office, HDFC Bank, and ICICI Bank premises. The sender demanded the resignation of RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, alleging their involvement in the “biggest scam in India.”

CNN-News18 revealed details from the threat mail, specifying locations such as “RBI New Central Office Building, Fort,” “HDFC House, Churchgate,” and “ICICI Bank Towers BKC.” The email asserted the execution of a significant scam involving top officials, ministers, and demanded resignations with a threat of bomb blasts if not met by 1:30 pm.
