PNB LBO Result 2026: Over 70% of Vacancies Remain Unfilled
Punjab National Bank has released the result of the LBO Recruitment Exam 2026. A total of 205 candidates have been selected for the post of Local Bank Officer (LBO) in PNB. However, the most concerning point is that the bank had advertised 750 vacancies for this recruitment.
This means that only about 27% of the advertised vacancies have been filled. This could further increase the staff shortage in Punjab National Bank. If 750 vacancies were announced, it indicates that there was a requirement for officers to fill those positions. However, with only 205 candidates selected, 545 vacancies remain unfilled.
But why did this happen? Why were only 205 candidates selected against 750 vacancies? One of the main reasons could be that the LBO post is not very attractive to candidates.
The LBO post requires at least one year of post-qualification banking experience. To be eligible for the Punjab National Bank (PNB) Local Bank Officer (LBO) position, candidates must be between 20 and 30 years of age, hold a graduation degree, and have a minimum of one year of post-qualification banking experience.
This means that candidates applying for the LBO recruitment were already employed in the banking sector. Candidates working in public sector banks are generally less likely to apply for this recruitment. Most applicants for such posts are usually from private sector banks.
Banks need to make this local recruitment model more attractive. If possible, they should consider merging it with the Probationary Officer (PO) recruitment process.
Maharashtra recorded the highest number of selections, with 68 candidates, accounting for nearly one-third of the total selections. It was followed by Telangana with 46 candidates and Tamil Nadu with 35 candidates.
