Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced an increase in the gratuity for teaching and non-teaching staff of government-aided schools and colleges. The gratuity amount will rise from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7.5 lakh, a decision that comes after repeated requests from teachers’ associations.

The new decision includes a hike in the superannuation (retirement) gratuity as well as the gratuity payable in case of death. The amount, which was previously set at Rs 5 lakh, will now be Rs 7.5 lakh for both categories.

This move is expected to benefit many educators and staff members in the state, providing them with greater financial security.

In addition to the gratuity hike, Chief Minister Majhi has approved the creation of 48 new posts in the Odisha Vigilance. The new positions will include eight Superintendents of Police (SPs), 24 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), and 16 Police Sub-Inspectors. These appointments are part of efforts to strengthen the vigilance department in the state.
