NOBO criticizes AIBEA GS, calls him anti-national and leftist

The National Organisation of Bank Workers and National Organisation of Bank Officers has strongly criticized the General Secretary of All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) – CH Venkatachalam and called him anti-national and leftist.

But how did this controversy start?

On 12 February 2026, 10 central trade unions conducted a strike against the policies of the central government. There are a total of 11 central trade unions in our country. Of these 11, 10 central trade unions joined the strike call. Only one central trade union – the BMS (Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh) did not call for this strike. All central trade unions, except the BMS, participated in the strike.

The bank unions also provided their support to the central trade unions. The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) comprises a total of nine unions of bank employees and officers. Except for two unions—NOBW and NOBO – the remaining seven unions, namely AIBEA, AIBOC, NCBE, AIBOA, BEFI, INBEF, and INBOC, supported the central trade unions. In addition, AIBEA, AIBOA, and BEFI directly called for participation in the strike. Employees of public sector banks, private banks, foreign banks, and regional rural banks who are members of these institutions went on strike.

Before the strike on 12 February 2026, AIBEA released a detailed clarification regarding the strike and said that, except for NOBW and NOBO, all other bank unions support the strike on 12 February 2026. AIBEA stated that these two unions are affiliated with the BMS, which is a trade union associated with the BJP – that’s why these two unions are not supporting the strike. This led to the controversy.

Now, NOBO has released a letter and criticized AIBEA GS. NOBO said that AIBEA supported Pervez Musharaf and welcomed Kanhaiya Kumar in their conferences. This shows that they support anti-national elements and leftist mindset. NOBO said: The GS of AIBEA who cannot satisfy his cadre by lame excuses is pushing the cadres for a politically motivated strike. He is diverting the young minds by giving false information to the bankers.

Namaste Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We, National Organisation of Bank Workers & National Organisation of Bank Officers had vide our letter dated 07/02/2026 had informed our members regarding non-participation of our organisation and our parent body Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh in this purely motivated strike called on 12th of February 2026.

However, we are astonished to notice that AIBEA which is one of the constituents of UFBU has given a clarification letter regarding the politically motivated strike on 12/02/2026. In the said letter, the general secretary of AIBEA has mentioned that BMS is the Trade union wing of BJP, this shows the lack of awareness and knowledge about the Indian Trade Union history.

We cannot expect more from a person who has been always supporting the anti-national forces and the leftist mindset. His claims of being non-political in nature is a farse statement and every meeting and events clearly indicates their political affiliation. The association of AIBEA and Communist Party of India is very evident as its MP is a permanent guest for their events. The public can go through various news reports and photographs in the public domain where AIBEA leaders are part of team of AITUC and has always had the leftist political party leaders accompany them for meeting with government representatives.

The public has not forgotten the support AIBEA (Bank of India, AIBEA Kerala Unit) had given to people worshipping President of a neighbouring country (Pervez Musharaf) who was responsible in orchestrating the Kargil War (This case is kept in back burner by the unholy collusion with the BOI management). The representatives of the tukde tukde gang (Kanhaiya Kumar) was welcomed to their conferences and even it is believed that their political careers were financially supported. It may be also noted they have utilised the funds to support divisive forces across the globe who believes in bloodshed and are against humanity. It may be noted that the anti-national call for not donating blood to the Indian Army vide the resolution during their conference during the period of war with China was the primary reasons for the formation of NOBW.

Regarding the strike on the labour codes, BMS had clearly indicated the reasons for non-participating in this politically motivated strike. Our leadership has cleared expressed our objections to some of the codes and has taken up the matter at the apex level. We have also made it clear that in case our queries and issues are not resolved we are willing to take up agitational path. However, our leadership believes that if issues can be cleared through reconciliation, strike is not an option. It may be also noted that BMS was the only trade union who had launched an agitation against BJP government on 17th of November 2022 against the proposed privatisation in the public sector units.

The GS of AIBEA who cannot satisfy his cadre by lame excuses is pushing the cadres for a politically motivated strike. He is diverting the young minds by giving false information to the bankers. We request him to put focus on the actual issues faced by the bankers rather than playing pipes for a political ideology which has become obsolete worldwide.

We call upon the entire banking community to reject this politically motivated strike and work together to achieve our goal of 5 Day Banking.

Jai Hind! Vande Mataram, Bharat Mata ki Jai
