An Assistant Engineer working with Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has been sent to 4 years Jail in Bribery Case. The Ld. Spl. Judge for CBI, Jabalpur, has convicted and sentenced the accused Yogesh Arora, the then Assistant Engineer, LIC, Jabalpur (MP) to 4 Years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) with a fine of ₹10,000/- in a Bribery case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had registered the case on 26 August 2011 after receiving a complaint against Yogesh Arora, who was then serving as an Assistant Engineer at LIC, Jabalpur. According to the complaint, Arora had demanded a bribe of ₹20,000 from a contractor.

The bribe was sought in exchange for showing official favour in the preparation and release of a bill amounting to ₹93,000 for electrical maintenance work that the complainant had already completed in LIC offices. Additionally, Arora promised to process and clear pending bills worth ₹35,000 to ₹40,000 for other small electrical maintenance and supply works carried out by the complainant in the LIC office.

The CBI laid a trap after verifying the complaint and caught Arora red-handed while accepting the bribe. During the trial, evidence presented by the CBI, including witness statements and documents, confirmed that the accused had indeed demanded and accepted the bribe amount.

After examining all the facts and evidence, the court found Arora guilty of corruption under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. After investigation, chargesheet was filed by CBI against the accused on 31.01.2012.

The Hon’ble Court, after the trial, convicted and sentenced the accused accordingly on 03.09.2025.
