Infosys had a really big deal for $1.5 billion with a company around the world to do cool things with artificial intelligence (AI). In September, they told everyone about it, but now, they’re saying the deal is off.
They didn’t say why or who the company is. This was supposed to be Infosys’s biggest AI deal ever, and it meant they could make $100 million every year for 15 years.
That’s a lot of money! But now, it’s not happening, and they didn’t explain much. In the world of business, when such big deals get canceled, it can cause problems for the company and the people working there.
The CEO of a company called Constellation Research says that in AI deals, where machines do a lot of the work, the impact on jobs is not as much because we’re competing with machines, not humans.
So, even though big deals being called off might not hurt jobs too much now, it’s still not great news. Another CEO from a company called HfS Research says that cancellations like this don’t happen a lot, and it could make people at Infosys feel down.
But on a positive note, Infosys’s CEO mentioned that, despite the tough times in the world, the company is still doing well with big deals, making $7.7 billion in the last three months. It shows that Infosys is good at adapting to challenges.
