Gwalior Shooting: 4-5 Rounds Fired at Finance Company Executive Near Salasar Mall, Four Detained
A shooting incident took place in broad daylight on Saturday afternoon in the parking area behind Salasar Mall in Gwalior’s City Center. The location is around 100 metres from the SP office and is one of the city’s busiest commercial areas. A group of men allegedly arrived in a Scorpio SUV and on a motorcycle and fired four to five rounds from a pistol at Sandeep Gurjar, an executive working in the home loan department of a private finance company.
Sandeep Escapes Unhurt
Sandeep managed to move away from the spot in time and escaped without injuries. The sound of gunfire created panic among people in the area. After receiving information about the incident, CSP (University) Ravi Bhadauria reached the spot with a police team and started an investigation.
Dispute Over Recovery of Financed Motorcycle
According to the preliminary investigation, the incident was linked to a dispute over the recovery of a motorcycle whose loan instalments were overdue.
Rajkumar Prajapati, a resident of Thatipur, works as a recovery agent for Bhavika Associate Finance Company, which has an office at Ambika Apartments behind Salasar Mall in City Center. On Saturday afternoon, Rajkumar was carrying out recovery work when he found a motorcycle financed by the company.
Rajkumar stopped the motorcycle near the LIC office. A young man was riding the motorcycle with a woman sitting behind him. When Rajkumar tried to take possession of the vehicle because of the pending instalments, the young man said that he had purchased the motorcycle from a friend of an acquaintance. An argument followed, after which the motorcyclist left the spot.
Argument Turns Violent
The young man later returned with some associates and allegedly assaulted Rajkumar. Satendra Gurjar, who was with Rajkumar, called his brother Sandeep Gurjar to the spot.
Sandeep tried to intervene in the dispute, but the other group also got into an argument with him. The dispute later escalated into the shooting incident.
Four to Five Rounds Fired
After some time, Rahul Gurjar allegedly reached the parking area behind Salasar Mall in a Scorpio SUV along with his associates. The group reportedly included Saurabh Gurjar, Paras Sharma, also known as Aditya Parashar, and others.
During the confrontation, one of the young men allegedly took out a pistol and fired four to five rounds at Sandeep. Sandeep moved away from the spot in time and avoided being hit.
After hearing the gunshots, local residents and passersby gathered in the area. The accused allegedly fled from the spot in their vehicles.
Police Begin Investigation
The incident caused panic in the City Center area, which has several bank branches, corporate offices and coaching institutes. Police teams reached the spot and began collecting evidence.
Two spent cartridges were recovered from the scene. Police are also examining CCTV footage from nearby shops and buildings. The footage reportedly captured the Scorpio SUV used by the attackers.
Four Suspects Detained
Police have detained four people in connection with the incident, including Rahul Gurjar and Saurabh Gurjar. Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the shooting and are examining the CCTV footage to identify the people involved.
CSP (Vishwavidyalaya) Ravi Bhadauria said that the firing followed a dispute in which one party became angry with a young man who had intervened in an argument between two individuals. He said that shots were fired from a pistol and that two empty cartridges were recovered from the scene. The investigation is currently underway.
