A case of fraud of ₹1.4 million has come to light at Punjab National Bank in Raisinghnagar, Sri Ganganagar district in Rajasthan. The head cashier took Rs 1.5 million from the bank to deposit cash into an ATM, but deposited only Rs 1 lakh into the ATM machine and kept the remaining Rs 1.4 million with himself.

Before the matter came to light, the employee sent a WhatsApp message to the bank manager, saying he was leaving home. However, his family deposited ₹1.4 million in the bank that same day and a police report was filed on Friday (October 30). The incident occurred in the Raisinghnagar police station area. Abhinav Arora, branch manager of Punjab National Bank, Raisinghnagar, has lodged a report against the head cashier.

On September 21, 2026, at around 9:38 am, Head Cashier Ishwar Panwar sent a WhatsApp message from his mobile phone to Branch Manager Abhinav Arora. In it, he wrote that he was leaving home due to debt and that it might take two to three months to return. The message also mentioned a shortage of ₹1.4 million in cash at the bank. He also advised his family not to disturb him and that the bank keys were in the cash drawer.

After receiving the message, the branch manager went to the bank and verified the cash balance, cash book, and other documents related to the cash. The investigation revealed that on September 19th, head cashier Ishwar Panwar took ₹1.5 million from the cash counter to deposit into the BNA machine.

It is alleged that he deposited only ₹1,00,000 into the BNA machine, while the bank’s Finacle system recorded a deposit of ₹1.5 million. This resulted in a discrepancy of ₹1.4 million. The report also alleges that he made incorrect entries in documents and vouchers related to the cash deposit.

The branch manager contacted the employee’s family, informed them of the incident, and asked them to deposit the money with the bank. The family deposited 1.4 million rupees with the bank that same day. The branch manager then informed the bank’s main office in Sri Ganganagar about the incident.

Now, on the instructions of authorized bank officials, the branch manager filed a complaint. The police have registered a case and begun an investigation. Police is investigating the matter and more details will be released soon.
