A case of alleged bank locker fraud has come to light in Bhiwani, Haryana, where a woman has accused bank officials and other individuals of using forged signatures to change her locker agreement and remove jewellery and other valuables from her locker. The woman, Pooja Gaur, a resident of Bharat Nagar, raised the matter before Minister Rajesh Nagar during a Grievance Committee meeting. After hearing her complaint, the minister directed the police to register an FIR. The Industrial Area Police Station in Bhiwani has registered a case against four individuals, including bank officials, on charges of fraud and other related offences.
According to Pooja Gaur’s complaint, she had opened a locker at the State Bank of India (SBI) branch in Vikas Nagar on December 13, 2014. Her husband, Chirag Gaur, passed away on May 24, 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic. She alleged that after her husband’s death, irregularities took place in the bank’s locker records, resulting in an unauthorised change to the locker agreement.

The complaint states that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued a circular on August 18, 2021, following a court directive, asking banks to replace old locker agreements with revised agreements by January 1, 2023. Pooja alleged that during this process, a revised locker agreement dated November 15, 2022, was prepared using forged signatures in her name. She claimed that she neither visited the bank nor signed any documents on that date. According to her, she was on duty at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Hisar Cantt, and the signatures on the revised agreement did not match her actual signatures.
The woman alleged that the fraud was carried out in collusion with the then-bank official and the co-holder of the locker. She also claimed that the locker operation register was tampered with and that the photograph of an unauthorised person was placed in the register in place of her photograph. According to the complaint, the disputed agreement was subsequently used to operate the locker on February 20 and 21, 2023, and again on May 31, 2023. During these visits, the jewellery and other valuables kept inside the locker were allegedly removed.

Pooja Gaur stated that she visited the bank on April 18, 2025, to check the locker records and confirm its status. During the visit, she allegedly discovered that another person’s photograph had been placed in the locker operation register instead of her own. She claimed that the photograph appeared to be around 30 years old and questioned how it had been included in the bank’s official records.
The woman further alleged that when she questioned the branch manager about the discrepancies, she was asked to update her Know Your Customer (KYC) details instead of being provided with the locker records she had requested. She accused the bank officials of manipulating the records and demanded strict action against everyone involved in the alleged fraud.
The matter was also examined by the District Lead Bank Manager of Punjab National Bank (PNB). According to the complaint, the investigation found that the signatures on the revised locker agreement did not match the signatures available in the bank’s records. It also identified an irregularity involving the photograph entered in the locker operation register, where the photograph of another person had reportedly been placed in place of the primary account holder’s photograph.
After raising the matter before Minister Rajesh Nagar at the Grievance Committee meeting, Pooja Gaur sought action against those responsible for the alleged fraud and the removal of her valuables. The minister directed the registration of an FIR, following which the Industrial Area Police Station in Bhiwani registered a case against four individuals, including bank officials.
The police have initiated an investigation into the allegations. The case centres on the alleged use of forged signatures, changes to locker records and the removal of valuables from the locker. Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
