Govt Employees DA Hike expected before Holi, Check how much salary will increase

The government is expected to approve a 4% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for central employees in March, with payments scheduled for April. However, the implementation will retroactively apply from January 1, 2024. Consequently, employees will receive arrears for the period from January to March.
Anticipated Lump Sum Payment
It is anticipated that the government will announce the DA hike before Holi, allowing central government employees to receive three months’ worth of DA in a lump sum, including arrears from January to March 2024, along with the DA for April.
Impact on Different Salary Levels
- Grade Pay 1800 (Level-1) Employees:
- Minimum basic salary: Rs 18,000
- Total DA variation: Rs 774
- Grade Pay 1800 (Level-1) Employees:
- Maximum basic salary: Rs 56,900
- Total DA variation: Rs 2,276
- Grade Pay 5400 (Level-10) Employees:
- Minimum basic salary: Rs 56,100
- Total DA variation: Rs 2,244
Salary Structure Under 7th Pay Commission
Under the 7th pay commission, central employees’ salaries are categorized into various grade pays ranging from level 1 to level 18. DA is calculated based on grade pay and travel allowance.
- Grade Pay and Salary Ranges:
- Level 1: Rs 18,000 to Rs 56,900
- Levels 2 to 14: Varies based on grade pay
- Levels 15, 17, 18: Fixed salaries
- Fixed Salary Levels:
- Level 15: Rs 182,200 to Rs 2,24,100
- Level 17: Rs 2,25,000
- Level 18 (Including Cabinet Secretary): Rs 2,50,000
