Kanpur Dehat: An 80-year-old man, Balram Singh, tragically passed away under suspicious circumstances while attempting to withdraw money at the Punjab National Bank (PNB) branch in Jhinjhak town. The incident has sparked outrage among local residents and raised questions about the behavior of the bank staff.

Balram Singh, a resident of Mudera Kinnar Singh village, had been suffering from paralysis and was recently undergoing medical treatment. According to his family, Balram visited the bank to withdraw money for personal needs. However, he was not able to sign properly which caused significant delay in cash withdrawal process.

Banks have to follow a set of safety rules and regulations to protect the customers from Frauds. It does not seem that Bank Employees are at fault anywhere. The age of customer might be the prime reason of death of customer inside Bank.

Son Alleges Negligence

The deceased’s son, Devesh, accused the bank staff of rude behavior and claimed that they caused undue delays in processing the withdrawal. “The staff ignored us and wasted time unnecessarily,” Devesh said. “It was only when the branch manager arrived that the withdrawal was processed, but by then my father’s health had started to deteriorate. Before we could take him to the hospital, he passed away.”

Bank Manager Responds

PNB branch manager Alok Dixit stated that he was out on the field at the time of the incident. He acknowledged that Balram, being elderly, faced difficulty signing the required documents. Dixit assured that the matter would be investigated and any negligence on the part of the employees would not be tolerated. “We will thoroughly examine whether any staff member was at fault and take necessary action,” he said.

Police Investigation and Family’s Decision

The Jhinjhak outpost police, led by Chowki Incharge Shivkumar Sharma, arrived at the scene to investigate the matter. The police spoke with the family and assessed the situation. However, the family refused to have Balram’s body sent for post-mortem, citing personal reasons. Consequently, the police handed over the body to the family.

Chowki Incharge Sharma confirmed, “The family was adamant about not conducting a post-mortem, so we respected their decision and released the body.”
