Deoria, Uttar Pradesh: A man vandalized the Central Bank of India at Barwamir Chhapar in the Rampur Factory police station area of Deoria on Saturday afternoon. He destroyed the bank’s glass counters and tried to physically assault bank staff also.
The commotion continued for about an hour in the bank. Bank staff called Police. He was then taken out of the bank with his hands and legs tied.
The incident occurred around 2 pm on Saturday afternoon. According to eyewitnesses, after arriving at the bank, the young man suddenly began smashing the glass counter with a stick. This caused panic among the bank employees, who left the counter and ran outside. Customers waiting in line to withdraw money also left the bank in fear.
Bank employees and on-duty security personnel attempted to restrain the young man, but he continued to create a ruckus. Upon receiving information, police arrived at the scene. After about an hour of struggle, the police and bank employees subdued him. He was then led out of the branch with his hands and feet tied.
A video of the incident surfaced around 11 a.m. Sunday morning. In it, the young man is seen hitting a glass counter inside the bank with a stick. In another scene, bank employees and security guards, in the presence of police, are seen taking him out.
City Circle Officer Sanjay Kumar Reddy stated that no complaint has been received regarding the incident. Upon receiving a complaint, legal action will be taken as per the law. According to the police, the young man has been identified as Mohammad Arif, son of Hasnain, a resident of Shampur, Rampur Factory Police Station.
The incident has once again raised the question of the safety of bank employees. The government should make tough rules for the safety of bank employees so that such incidents can be avoided.
