Department of Financial Services (DFS) held a review meeting on financial performance and technology upgradation of Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) on 20.06.2024 at Delhi. The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary DFS, NABARD Chairman, MDs/EDs of Sponsor Banks, RBI CGM, and Chairman of RRBs.
DFS while reviewing the technology upgradation of RRBs has pointed out the supporting role to be played by the respective sponsor banks. The upgradation of technology, innovation of products, retention of esteemed customers, improvement of services and leverage of technology are the core points required for the expansion of the banking business in the potential areas.
NABARD has also been asked to play an important role as a supervisor. Besides expansion of FI schemes, DFS has insisted on the priority of these Govt schemes namely, PM Surya Ghar, PM Awas Yojana and PM Vishwas Yojana and their integration through Jansamarth portal.
