Sasaram: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested two bank officials from Union Bank in Sasaram on Wednesday evening after catching them red-handed while taking a bribe inside the bank.
The two arrested officials are:
- Vijay Kumar – Branch Manager
- Vicky Kumar – Clerk
According to information from sources, both officers were caught while taking a bribe of ₹6,000 from a local trader. They had demanded this money to help in processing and approving a loan of ₹3 lakh.
After the arrest, both bank employees were taken to Patna for further investigation by the CBI.
This is the second major CBI action in Sasaram within a month.
Earlier in June, the CBI had arrested the principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya while he was allegedly taking a ₹1 lakh bribe from a contractor to approve the release of pending funds.
The action against the Union Bank staff started after a complaint was filed by Roshan Chaurasia, a trader from Sasaram. In his complaint, he said that both bank officials were:
- Harassing him
- Demanding money to approve his Mudra loan application
After checking and verifying that his complaint was genuine, the CBI set a trap and arrested the two bank officials inside the bank itself, as part of a well-planned operation.
