CBI Arrests Executive Engineer of PWD While Accepting Rs.30,000 Bribe in Delhi

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an Executive Engineer posted with the Judiciary Civil Division-2 of the Public Works Department (PWD) at Rouse Avenue District Court Complex, Delhi. The arrest was made after the officer was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹30,000 from a complainant.

According to the complaint received by the CBI, the Executive Engineer had allegedly demanded a bribe as a commission for clearing pending payment bills. Specifically, the officer asked for a 3% of the total bill amount to process the due payments. After some negotiation between the officer and the complainant, the bribe amount was agreed at ₹30,000.

Based on the complaint, the CBI registered a case on July 28, 2025, and immediately laid a trap to catch the accused in the act. The operation was successful, and the Executive Engineer was apprehended red-handed while accepting the bribe money.

Following the arrest, the CBI conducted searches at various locations connected to the accused in Delhi and Jaipur. These searches led to the recovery of unaccounted cash worth ₹1.60 crore. In addition to this, officials also seized documents related to properties, bank account details, and other assets indicating substantial financial holdings.

Further investigation is ongoing.
