In Vrindavan, a bank employee has been sent to jail after being caught stealing money from the donation boxes of the famous Thakur Sribankebihari Temple. The temple manager, Munish Sharma, filed a police report regarding the theft.

The incident happened on Saturday when, under the order of the Civil Judge (Judicial), the money collected in the temple’s donation boxes was being officially counted. During the counting process, the temple authorities noticed something suspicious about Abhinav Saxena, who works as a field officer in the loan department of Canara Bank.

The temple commissioner and manager immediately informed the police and conducted a search. During this search, Abhinav was found with a large amount of cash hidden in his underwear—218 notes of ₹500 and 98 notes of ₹200, which raised serious doubts.

When the police interrogated him, Abhinav confessed that he had been stealing money from the temple for several days. At first, he claimed that the stolen money was kept at his home. Later, he changed his statement and said that the money was actually in his office at the bank.

Acting on this information, the police searched his cabin at the bank and found a bag in the cupboard. Inside the bag was ₹8,55,300 in cash. Including the money found on him earlier, the police recovered a total of ₹9,83,900.

On Sunday, the police presented Abhinav before the court. After reviewing the evidence, the court ordered that he be sent to jail. This incident has shocked the temple authorities and devotees, as the stolen money came from donations made with faith and devotion.
