
Belagavi: In a shocking incident, burglars broke into an SBI ATM in Sambra village on the Belagavi-Bagalkot road and looted cash by cutting open the ATM’s chest with a gas cutter. The incident occurred during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday.
How the Loot Happened
According to police, the burglars came prepared with gas cutters and targeted the locked section of the ATM chest. They managed to break it open from one side and took away the entire cash stored inside. However, the exact amount stolen is yet to be determined.
What makes the incident even more surprising is that it took place in a busy area where people and vehicles are present at all hours.
Investigation Underway
Upon receiving information, Police Commissioner Iada Martin Marbaniang visited the spot and assessed the situation. Bank officials also provided details about how the ATM’s chest was cut open.
The Marihal police have registered a case and launched an investigation to identify the burglars. Authorities are also checking CCTV footage from the ATM and nearby areas to gather clues.
