New Delhi: Bank of Baroda (BoB) is on a mission to uncover the truth behind a recent scandal where employees are alleged to have created fake app sign-ups using random mobile numbers, sources close to the state-owned lender revealed. To unravel the paper trail, BoB has instructed branches to provide customer consent and registration forms for both the “bob World” app sign-up and mobile number changes.
Time is of the essence, as emphasized in virtual meetings held by regional offices with branches. As per sources, a deadline of a few days has been set for uploading the required forms on an internal portal. Additionally, branches have received detailed instructions on how to complete the upload process. Each branch will be provided with a specific list of bank accounts requiring document verification.
Mint has independently confirmed the authenticity of the instructions provided to branches.
This move by BoB signifies a proactive approach to addressing the scandal and ensuring accountability. By scrutinizing the paperwork, the bank aims to identify the individuals involved and take appropriate action.
