On July 18, a tragic incident occurred near Khadki railway station, resulting in the death of a 34-year-old bank manager, Rohit Kumar. He was riding his bike when it was struck by a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus in Khadki on Pune-Mumbai road. He was returning home after work when accident happened. The collision caused serious injuries to Rohit Kumar. Despite being conscious after the accident, he requested assistance to take him to the Military Hospital in Khadki. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries later.
Rohit Kumar was a resident of Pimpri and worked as a manager at a public sector bank, specifically stationed at Laxmi Road in Pune. The victim’s cousin, Alok Singh, lodged an FIR on Wednesday morning in connection with the incident. The police acted promptly and arrested the 53-year-old MSRTC bus driver, Prakash Kadam, who hails from Satara. The driver has been charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for rash driving and causing death due to negligence. Additionally, the police invoked provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act in response to the incident.
Sub-inspector Anna Gunjal of the Khadki police told TOI, “The bus driver failed to spot him on the road and directly hit the motorcycle from the rear.”
This tragic accident has left Rohit Kumar’s family devastated. He is survived by his wife and a three-year-old son, who now have to cope with the loss of their loved one. The authorities are investigating the case to ensure that justice is served for the victim and his family.
