Only 25 Candidates out of 700 turn up for joining process in PNB

Around 450 candidates selected through IBPS Clerk examination will join Punjab National Bank in coming days. It’s expected that they will report for training on 22 June 2026.
After completing the training programme, these employees will be allotted circles and posted to branches for regular duties.
But there is a growing concern in the recruitment of clerks. In the second list of candidates empanelled through the IBPS recruitment process, more than 700 clerical cadre candidates were called for document verification. Surprisingly, only 25 candidates reportedly turned up for the verification process.
Union Leaders have described this as a strange and disturbing phenomenon, as a large number of candidates are not reporting for banking jobs despite being selected. The low joining rate is creating staff shortage in Banks. This information was shared on social media by AIPNBOF GS Shri Krishna Kumar.

Candidates are giving preference to SSC and other jobs over Bank jobs. This is due to toxic work culture increasing rapidly in banks. In PNB, staff is sitting late till 9pm and 10pm due to forced day end checks. Click here to read this news.
Due to manpower shortages, existing bank employees are often required to handle additional workloads, leading to increased pressure on staff. Experts believe that the shortage of employees can also affect customer service, resulting in longer waiting times and operational difficulties at bank branches.
