Sonipat, Haryana: Allegations of misconduct by a bank manager have emerged in Sonipat’s Ganaur Mandi. A mobile shop owner, who visited the Sarva Haryana Gramin Bank’s BST Road branch to collect his property papers after clearing a loan, has accused the bank manager of abusing and assaulting him. The situation reportedly escalated when the shopkeeper was allegedly beaten inside a house near the bank premises.

Dispute Originates Over Past Complaint

The victim, Vidya Bhushan Hasija, claimed that the manager, Sumit Kadian, held a grudge against him due to a complaint he had filed with the bank’s head office months earlier. According to Hasija, the manager remarked, “Your loan account with the bank is settled, but our personal account is still pending.”

Tensions Brewing for Months

Hasija, a resident of Krishnapura in Ganaur Mandi and owner of a mobile shop in the Punjabi Market, had taken a loan from the bank. He alleged that issues began three months ago when Kadian was posted at the branch. Hasija claimed that Kadian misbehaved with him during one of his visits, prompting him to lodge a formal complaint with the bank’s head office.

Alleged Assault After Loan Settlement

After clearing his loan on December 5, Hasija received a call from the bank’s junior manager, inviting him to collect his property papers. When he visited the branch on December 6, Hasija alleged that Kadian abused him, threatened him for the earlier complaint, and initially refused to hand over the papers. While he eventually received his documents, the encounter reportedly turned violent outside the bank.

Claims of Physical Assault in Nearby House

Hasija alleged that Kadian forced him out of the bank, attempted to drag him into a car, and tried to knock over his scooter when he resisted. Seeking safety, Hasija ran into a nearby house owned by Surendra Nandal. Kadian allegedly followed him, locked the door, and assaulted him. The landlord intervened to stop the attack, but Hasija claimed he had already sustained injuries, including a loosened tooth.

Police Action and Investigation

Hasija lodged a complaint at Ganaur police station, supported by a medical report confirming injuries. SHO Jaspal Singh confirmed that a case has been registered against Kadian under multiple sections of the law. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the bank as part of their investigation.

A Need for a Balanced Perspective

It is important to note that this account represents one side of the story, as reported in news outlets. There could be a different version of events. Crimes against bank employees have been on the rise, and it is also possible that the customer harassed the bank manager, leading to a confrontation. Efforts are being made to contact the bank manager, Sumit Kadian, to understand his perspective and provide a more comprehensive account of the incident.

The case underscores the growing tension between customers and bank employees, highlighting the need for mutual respect and effective conflict resolution in the banking sector.
