Bank Holiday 6 January 2025: The Punjab Government has officially declared 6 January 2025 (Monday) as a public holiday to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. This announcement was made through a gazetted notification under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.

The Chief Secretary of Punjab, K.A.P. Sinha, issued the notification, directing all government departments, offices, and concerned officials to treat the day as a public holiday across the state.

Copies of the notification have been dispatched to the following:

  1. Senior Officials and Administrative Heads: Special Chief Secretaries, Additional Chief Secretaries, Financial Commissioners, and Principal Secretaries have been informed to ensure compliance.
  2. Divisional Authorities: Heads of Departments, Commissioners, and Deputy Commissioners, along with Sub Divisional Magistrates, have been directed to take appropriate action.
  3. Media and Public Relations: The Director of Information and Public Relations Department has been asked to disseminate the holiday information via press, radio, and television.
  4. Publication in Gazette: The Controller of Printing and Stationery Department has been instructed to publish this notification in the Punjab Government Gazette.

This decision honors the contributions and legacy of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, ensuring statewide participation in the celebrations of this auspicious day.
