A female branch manager of UCO Bank in Nagaur district of Rajasthan foiled a major ATM robbery. Two robbers who entered the ATM late at night with a gas cutter were trapped inside by a female manager who locked the shutter from outside.
Thanks to her swift action, the ATM’s cash, worth over 16 lakh rupees, was saved, and both suspects were caught red-handed.
The incident occurred at the UCO Bank ATM located on Nagaur Road in the Marwar Mundwa police station area around 2 a.m. on Sunday night.
The ATM was filled with a substantial amount of cash, due to proposed Bank strike from 28 to 30 September 2026.
At around 2:04 am, the bank’s security officer in Ajmer received an alert about suspicious activity from the e-surveillance system. He immediately informed the branch manager Sarika Chaudhary.
Upon receiving the information, Sarika Chaudhary, who lives in the quarters above the bank premises, immediately ran downstairs with her husband to the ATM booth.
Upon arriving, they saw that the shutter was partially down and some people were inside. Without panicking, Sarika immediately pulled the shutter down completely and locked it from outside and called the police at 2:13 am.
The criminals had come prepared to carry out the robbery. They had sprayed paint on the cameras to conceal their identity and cut the connecting wires. They had already broken the ATM’s upper frame and were about to cut the cash box with a gas cutter from their bag when the shutter was shut from the outside.
Within just minutes of receiving the information, a police team arrived at the scene, opened the shutter, and apprehended both of them. During police interrogation, the arrested accused were identified as Bharat Prajapat, a local dhaba owner, and Komal Kumar, a resident of Bihar.
The owner of the bike, the accused used to commit the crime has also been summoned for questioning. The police administration and local residents are praising the female branch manager’s presence of mind and bravery.
