The State Bank of India (SBI) Regional Business Office (RBO), Bilaspur, has advised Chief Managers (CMs) and Branch Managers (BMs) not to take leave during the festive season until November 9, 2026.

The instruction was communicated by Vikas Ranjan Kumar, Manager HR at SBI RBO Bilaspur, in an email addressed to regional and branch-level officials.

According to the email, as per the instructions of the competent authority, all Chief Managers and Branch Managers have been advised not to proceed on leave during this period. They have also been instructed not to grant leave to their field officers until November 9, 2026.

While banks may need adequate staff to manage the increased workload during the festive season, imposing a blanket restriction on leave is not an ideal solution.

Bank employees also have families, personal responsibilities and medical emergencies that cannot always be planned in advance. Continuous work without adequate rest can increase stress and affect employee morale.

Instead of denying leave to all employees, banks should make proper staffing arrangements, approve leave on a rotational basis and consider genuine emergencies individually. Maintaining smooth banking operations is important, but employee welfare should also be given due consideration.
