Telangana: Rachakonda Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu has raised concerns over the lack of adequate security measures in many banks across the police commissionerate. Recently, a review of security arrangements in 489 banks was conducted by the police and a lot of shortcomings were found in this review. A few days ago, Robbers Killed SBI ATM Security Guard and looted Rs.93 Lakh Cash. Yesterday, a robber entered SBI Branch in Kanpur and attacked guard and all staff with Knife.

Due to so many robbery incidents in Banks, the Police conducted a review of security arrangements in the Banks. The review found several security lapses, including substandard buildings, weak locking systems, outdated alarm systems, absence of CCTV cameras, lack of security guards, and insufficient data backup systems. These deficiencies were brought to the attention of bank representatives, who were urged to take immediate corrective measures.

In response to recent bank heists in Rayaparthi, Bidar, and Mangalore, the Rachakonda Police convened a coordination meeting on Saturday at the Commissioner’s office in Neredmet. The meeting was attended by senior officers and staff from various banks.

Addressing the gathering, Commissioner Sudheer Babu emphasized the critical role of the banking sector in supporting society and driving business and commercial activities. He pointed out that robust security measures are important to safeguard these institutions.

The Commissioner provided several recommendations to improve security infrastructure in banks. He stressed the need for regular updates to security technology, installation of modern security devices, and employing vigilant security personnel to prevent unauthorized access.

The Rachakonda Police urged banks to act swiftly to strengthen their security systems to ensure the safety of financial institutions and their customers.

Earlier, the Lucknow Police had also conducted the review of security system in Banks. The review was done after daring robbery in Indian Overseas Bank where items worth crores of rupees were stolen. The Police revealed glaring security lapses at the bank, including faulty CCTV cameras, a lack of security guards, and poorly constructed walls in the locker room.
