According to the police, on May 6, the manager of a nationalized bank in Dharchula, located in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district, was allegedly set on fire by a security guard.
The accused, Deepak Kshetri, has been arrested, as confirmed by Superintendent of Police (Pithoragarh) Lokeshwar Singh.
The victim, Muhammad Owais, who manages a State Bank of India branch, sustained 36% burns and received first aid at a nearby hospital before being admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rishikesh.
This incident follows a previous altercation between the two individuals. On Saturday, Kshetri failed to report for duty, and Owais marked him absent. Following this, Kshetri allegedly poured petrol on the bank manager and set him on fire. Kshetri, who hails from Dehradun, served in the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles before retiring and working as a security guard at the bank for the last two years.
