The All India State Bank of India Staff Federation has informed that a Memorandum of Settlement has been signed between the SBI Management and the All India State Bank of India Staff Federation to lift the ban on Inter-Circle Transfers for employees recruited from 2019 onwards.
This is a major development for SBI employees and is expected to benefit a large number of staff members across the bank. Earlier, applications for Inter-Circle Transfers from these employees were not being accepted, and many employees had been serving away from their preferred locations for several years.
State Bank of India (SBI) had restricted or paused Inter-Circle Transfers (ICT) for certain categories of staff, particularly award staff (clerks/junior associates) recruited from 2019 onward. This policy mostly affected the married couples. Rigid enforcement left married couples and spouse-ground applicants stranded across different circles.
Employees had been demanding Inter-Circle Transfers on various grounds, including spouse grounds and the poor health of their parents. The demand had been pending for several years. With the signing of the settlement, this long-standing demand of SBI employees has now been fulfilled.
SBI CBO also facing same issue
The State Bank of India (SBI) recruites candidates for the post of Circle Based Officer (CBO). Under this recruitment, candidates are selected to work in the state for which they apply. For example, if a candidate applies for the Uttar Pradesh circle, they will normally be posted and serve in Uttar Pradesh.
According to the SBI CBO recruitment notification, a selected candidate must serve in the allotted circle for at least 12 years or until promotion to the post of Chief Manager, whichever is later. The phrase “whichever is later” means that a candidate must satisfy both conditions before becoming eligible for an inter-circle transfer.
